Kon is a Konpaku or mod soul, a modified soul meant to be a capable warrior to fight the hollows. The Konpaku program was ended when there were ethical and containment issues. Kon was bought by Rukia from Urahara by accident, he was labeled as a defective product. Kon's purpose was to take over Ichigo's body while Ichigo was running as a Shinigami. Later on, Kon was put in a dirty stuffed animal on the street by Ichigo, because While in ichigo's body, Kon kisses a girl in his class, which makes him While in ichigo's body, Kon kisses a girl in his class, and Ichigo wanted to pay back what Kon did to his own body.
