Love Hina

Love Hina is a popular 14 volume manga by Ken Akamatsu, published in 1999, which was also turned into an anime series. It is based around a childhood promise that the protaganist, Keitarou Urashima, made to an unidentified girl when he was five years old, that they would attend Tokyo University together and so live happily ever after. The plot revolves around the question of the girl's identity, and whether he will manage to keep the promise.

A simple story about a rounin, Keitarou Urashima, who has spent his life trying to get into Tokyo University and has failed. He then gets a call from his crazy grandmother who leaves him to take care of the inn she owns. Keitarou is surprised to find that the inn he stayed in during his childhood is now an all girls dormitory. Quickly he falls in love with a boarder, Naru Narusegawa, who is also trying to get into Tokyo University and spends the rest of the anime trying to win her love only to find her violent tendencies to get in the way. Keitarou is beaten up by almost every female in the anime. Most of the humor in the series comes from this.
