Basic info
Anime-Wiki.Org is based on MediaWiki software. You can think of our website as online archive for information related to anime. Anyone can submit and edit entries in our “archive”. If you have ever used Wikipedia before, you are already familiar with the layout and idea behind our wiki.
Membership
We strongly encourage our visitors to register an account with us. Anime-Wiki.Org strongly believes in your rights to privacy, therefore we only collect a username, and password. No e-mail address, or any other information is required. Because e-mail addresses are not necessary, you can be assured that Anime-Wiki.Org will not send any spam, or unsolicited e-mails to your inbox. Forum membership requires an e-mail address, however registering on our forums is optional.
The advantage to membership is quite simple: When editing pages, the changes are tracked on Anime-Wiki.Org and attached to your username. Any anonymous visitor, or member can look up your username and see all the contributions you have done. If you are not logged in, or do not have an account, any changes that you have made to our wiki will be posted using your IP Address.
Creating pages
To create page that doesn’t exist yet simply go to http://en.anime-wiki.org/wiki/XXX where XXX is name of the page you want to create and hit edit on top middle menu. Once you’re done please link your newly created page from some page that is related to it (otherwise who will know it’s there). To link your page to other pages, you must specify a category to which your anime, manga, or any other anime related entry belongs to. As an example, by enclosing ":Category:Fantasy" and ":Category:Anime" in double brackets [[ ]] at the top of an entry, your page will automatically be published in the "Anime" section of our website, and the "Fantasy" section.
Editing existent pages
To edit an existing page just press “edit” located on top menu. Please check spelling errors before submitting.
Markup
Anime-Wiki.Org uses Wikipedia formatting syntax. Please see their help page
Namespace Header
You may have noticed a generic header image at the top of most Anime-Wiki.Org pages. This is a namespace sensitive header image that users can change to reflect the type of article they are editing.
Uploading an image with the following file name: page-NAME.jpg or page-NAME_WITH_SPACES.jpg will then update the header for that page.
Example: Anime article Bleach - upload an image called page-Bleach.jpg - this will replace the header with a Bleach specific header. The website will automatically constrain/crop/adjust the header to avoid deforming the page.
The image may be GIF, JPEG, or PNG.
