Meimi is a junior high school student with an interesting hobbey - thievery. Meimi, when she's not attending Catholic school disguises herself as "Kaitou Saint Tail" (The Mysterious Theif Saint Tail). But Meimi doesn't rob items for her own personal gain - she is a sort of Japanese Robin Hood, stealing items to help out people in need (whether to return items they had lost or items that had been taken from them). Meimi's secret identity is known only by her best friend Seira, who is a nun in training. It is Seira who helps Meimi find people in need.

Meimi takes after her father and is a magician. She uses her many tricks to assist herself in her escapades. Even though Meimi's intentions are pure - she even calls upon the help of God - the police are keen on catching her. At the top of the list of Meimi's wanna-be captors is Asuka Jr, the son of a police officer and a fellow classmate.
